Configuring the VM platform

You can choose from a variety of platforms when configuring the properties of a VM that relies on specific virtualized hardware settings.  You can edit these settings, as needed, to accommodate issues related to licensing, hardware checks, and more.

When a VM is selected on the Application page, its properties appear in a series of tabs.  The Platform field is located on the System tab.

The available virtual machine platforms include:

  • V2-ESX: 2nd generation ESXi virtual hardware, PCI-express based
  • Default: Common settings for KVM (QEMU/libvirt) virtual hardware
