How to add the proxy settings for image Import Tool

When working in an environment where a proxy is needed to access the internet, you need to manually configure the proxy settings before you can use the Import Tool.

 1. Create the config.properties file, containing the content:

            [upload]

            proxy_address = <ip address of proxy server>

            proxy_port = <port on which the proxy server accepts connections>

It should be located in the following path:

For Windows OS:  C:\Users\user\.ravello

For Linux/home/user/.ravello/

 2.  After saving the file in the specified location, restart the Ravello Import Tool process:

  • Windows: Open the Task Manager and endTask the "RavelloImageImportServer.exe" and start it by going to Start - All Programs - Ravello import utility - Import Tool
  • Linux: Kill the process (named ravello-vm-upload), and restart the utility.

3. Advanced:
    If the proxy uses basic authentication, you need to add the user and password to the same configuration file:

            [upload]

            proxy_address = <ip address of proxy server>

            proxy_port = <port on which the proxy server accepts connections>

            proxy_username = <proxy user>

            proxy_password =  <proxy password >

    There is a "config.properties" file inside the ravello_cli folder, insert the proxy settings there.
