How to export OVF files

To export a virtual machine running in a vSphere environment:

  1. Open the Virtual Infrastructure client and connect to the vCenter or ESX host where the VM is running.
  2. Select the intended VM from the inventory, shut it down if it is running, and then select   File  > Export  > Export OVF Template
The export process might take some time, depending on the size of the disks and other parameters.  At the end of the export process, an OVF file and 1 or more VMDK files should appear in your target directory.
  3. Optional to get better results (not must): To import the VM to Ravello, replace the OVF file with the original VMX file. As a result, the  uploaded files will now include the exported VMDK and the original VMX.

You can then import these files into the Ravello service by pointing the import dialog to the VMX file.
